Down for the Count & Happy Thanksgiving

Hey y'all! Man, whatever this season's flu bug/cold virus is, it's a doozy. I've been down for the count for the last week and a half and besides being sick, it's just SO ANNOYING. I hope you stay healthy, especially this week being the week of Thanksgiving. It crept up so quickly!

We travel out of town tomorrow to visit my husband's family for Christmas at his grandma's house. Sadly, my little hiatus will have to continue since his grandma doesn't have Internet. Four days without Internet will be interesting, for sure, especially since I know how much I rely on it!

I hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving wherever you may be and however you are celebrating!

Summer in November

I, for one, am totally flabbergasted that it is already November! Seriously. WHERE. DID. THIS. YEAR. GO?

I started this blog back during the Royal Wedding, 6 months ago! I still feel like this baby blog is only a few weeks old. It's been a fun ride, I'm learning as I go, and I have nothing but respect for all you pro bloggers out there. The way you constantly churn out new, fresh content, serious props.

And since I'm remain in disbelief that it is, in fact, November, here's a fresh drink I saw on Pinterest. It would be perfect for a Signature Drink for a summer wedding. Refreshing. My husband LOVES watermelon and I think he could get on board with this one.

Watermelon & Tequila Mojito Recipe from Girl Cooks World

* 10 mint leaves
* 1/2 of a lime, cut into three wedges
* 2- 3 teaspoons sugar, depending on how sweet you like your drink
* 3 Tablespoons white or silver tequila
* ice cubes
* about 1/2 cup seedless watermelon, blended until liquidized and smooth
* splash of lemon-lime soda or sparkling water
* mint sprig and a slice of lime for garnish (optional)

Happy Wednesday!

Halloween Wedding Ideas

This is a gorgeous way to incorporate Halloween in an elegant way. Love the purple and black combination! It goes great with the pumpkins. Be sure to check out the entire shoot on Style Unveiled.

And to those going to Halloween parties (or weddings) this weekend, have a safe and happy weekend!

Halloween Wedding Ideas

I don't know about you, but if I'm being totally honest, I'm not a huge fan of Halloween. I never liked dressing up very much as a kid. I think the only thing I liked about Halloween was all the candy. The good stuff, like Snickers, KitKats, and Twix. None of that cheap Tootsie Roll business (sorry if those are your favorites!).

But since Halloween is literally right around the corner, I thought I'd highlight some fun ways to incorporate Halloween into your wedding.

I saw these chair signs on The Sweetest Occasion and had to share. Be sure to check out the full post for chic Halloween wedding ideas.

Would you get married on Halloween or incorporate it into your decor? Let me know!

Happy Monday!

DIY Week: Rope Words

I saw this project over on Green Wedding Shoes and thought it was so cute! It's kind of the same idea as the string chandeliers, using corn starch and glue. How perfect is this to make for your wedding and then as DIY art in your home?!

Check out the full DIY Tutorial on Green Wedding Shoes.

What are you doing for the weekend? My hubby texted me to pick out a restaurant...he wrote, "Don't worry how expensive." So I'm researching yummy restaurants we haven't tried yet. And I'm wondering what's the special occasion...?! Have a great weekend!!

Happy Friday!

DIY Week: Hand-Painted Mugs

How cute would these be for bridesmaids gifts? Especially for you crafty people and your crafty bridesmaids. I stumbled on this on Pinterest (of course!) and just had to post. Super cute to have unique dishware!

DIY Week: String Chandeliers

A few months ago I spotted these string chandeliers and was completely intrigued.

They make a modern alternative to tissue poms or paper lanterns and add an accessible element of DIY to any wedding. I think they are also so lovely when contrasted against some greenery, as seen in the inspired shoot in the photo. So pretty!
