Back to School Wedding: Centerpieces

I'm super excited because Dallas Restaurant Week is here! AND, we're actually going to go. We missed it the last two years, I don't think we were really paying attention. What is it? A long list of amazing restaurants offer a three course meal for a set price of $35, and a portion of the cost of each meal goes to the North Texas Food Bank. Win-win.

Anyway, I was thinking about tables and centerpieces today and found these two cute centerpiece ideas that would work seamlessly with a Back to School themed wedding. I love how easy and simple these are and use pencils! and magnets! Love.

DIY Week: Centerpieces

So. I didn't get the job. It totally bummed me out yesterday. I thought that the position was so perfect, too. Augh. A small office environment. A ten minute commute. A job that I actually wanted. Well, what can I say, I think the hiring manager made a misjudgment. Then again, he was kind of "kooky" (as a friend described him) and he probably would eventually would become annoying to work for. Granted, that's just me rationalizing. But still. I'm grasping for some silver lining.

Here's a DIY project I found for centerpieces. While I think that centerpieces walks the line of a DIY project that should be taken on with caution (and I definitely think you should consult a floral designer for floral suggestions), it's something that can be personalized. However, I highly recommend hiring a wedding coordinator for at least the month-of, so that they can take over the setup of centerpieces and decor. And you, the bride, can relax and enjoy your big day with your love! It's well worth the investment.

School Themed Wedding Inspiration: Centerpieces & Decor

In high school, the one thing I wish I had done was Yearbook. Now that I look back (10 years ago this year!) I really should have registered for it. At my school it was for class credit, you couldn't just sign up. Instead, like the teenage fool that I was, I signed up for a different class because there was a boy who I had a crush on who was taking it too. I figured we'd get to know each other better and... Yeah, I was a dumb teenager for that move. Oh well.

However, I think the following photos showcase just how wonderfully a school themed wedding can be executed. From the class subjects as table names to the pencils as escort cards to the yearbook style guestbook and the brown bag "lunch" favors, these are weddings I wouldn't mind being invited to!

Summer Picnic Wedding Ideas: Desserts & Tables

Oh summer. When I used to live in California, I loved summer. It was the one time of year when it was warm all the time. I lived near San Francisco, mind you, and so most of the year is pretty mild, and perfect summer days hovered between the high seventies and eighties. Sometimes it would creep into the nineties, and for a couple weeks in the peak of summer if might get over 100 degrees.

However, now I live in Dallas, and it's hot. Although, I must say, I must be adjusting if I don't think it's too bad when it's still 90 degrees out. I know we're just in the climb of the summer heat, and soon it'll be 100+ everyday. I'm trying to brace myself.

With that, I'm sharing some delicious dessert ideas and a few table ideas.

I'm thinking about starting some DIY posts or resource posts to help you see how you can take inspiration and make it possible for your wedding. What do you think?

Lemon Yellow Wedding Ideas: Centerpieces & Cakes

There are so many fresh and inviting ways to use the color yellow in your wedding. I'm especially loving the lemon yellow color. Each uses the same color, but each has a distinct look. I thought I'd share some lemon yellow wedding centerpieces and wedding cake ideas today.

Love, love, love the use of lemons! So simple, and yet so lovely.

And cakes! I know that the thought of a yellow cake can seem a little crazy, since most wedding cakes tend to be white, but why not think outside the box? I absolutely love how all of these cakes incorporated the color yellow, whether it be as the base fondant or as an accent color with a flower. Yellow can look soooo pretty!

Succulents Wedding Ideas: Centerpieces & Decor

There are so many lovely and different uses of succulents that I couldn't post all the ideas there are out there. So I narrowed down a few of my favorites. Friday, I'll be devoting the post entirely to succulent bouquets! I especially am in love with the last photo with hanging succulents in glass vessels! It's so pretty!

Library Wedding Ideas: Centerpieces & Guestbooks

The idea of a library wedding has me thinking of all kinds of amazing centerpieces. Books afford so many different kinds of options for centerpieces, which can be a great alternative to flowers or a great complement to flowers. Old books can serves as the perfect centerpieces to accessorize your library wedding.

When I saw this photo on Jessica Claire's blog, I just fell in love with the idea. While I would hate to mutilate (for lack of a better word!) a book, I think this is just lovely for table numbers. I'd have to find some books that I didn't care for. At all.

This next project found on Green Wedding Shoes is adorable. I love the use of the card catalog for the guest sign-in area and as an alternative to a traditional guestbook. The card catalog can also be stocked with candies for your guests to pick up and nosh on while entering cocktail hour. I love the creative use of a card catalog!

These are simple yet beautiful centerpieces using books and a globe. And in this case, you can just pick up old books from Goodwill or another thrift store and voila, a table is set!

I think this next centerpiece is so ingenious! I never would have thought to tuck in pages to create a whole new look for a centerpiece. It's gorgeous!

I love the use of an old typewriter for a guestbook. And the card catalog for escort cards? So smart! Perfect for a library wedding. And if you really knew your library science, maybe you could categorize using the Dewey Decimal system...

How would you use books for a library wedding?
