Ruffled Ombre Cake

I spotted these cakes on Pinterest this morning and couldn't resist sharing.

I'm not sure what it is exactly about the ruffled cake, but there's something just so pretty, yet simple about them. I've seen tutorials on how to do it, but I think I'll leave it up to the pros to ruffle up a wedding cake.

And this one is an ombre cake! How cool is that?

What's your favorite type of fancy cake?

Back to School Wedding Inspiration: Cakes

To top off a much sweeter week than the last two have been, today is all about cakes and sweets galore!

Such a cute school themed dessert table that would work beautifully for a school themed wedding. I just love the little crayons on the cupcakes and the apple cupcakes. Delish!

Now I just have to wait until it's date night time and we head to Restaurant Week! Woo hoo!

Have a fabulous weekend!

What are your weekend plans?

Camping Wedding Week: Cake & Desserts

Sooo, in addition to S'mores... who doesn't love cake at a wedding. I must say that it's usually the thing I look forward to most as a wedding guest. Seriously. I found a few parties that had a camping theme to them, and I think that these could work beautifully for a camping themed wedding.

Ranch Wedding Inspiration: Cakes

It's so weird that I haven't blogged in two days! I'm so used to being in a routine. However, I'm on a mini vacation of sorts in California, so it's been hard to be good with blogging. But no worries, I'm catching up know to round out the week of ranch wedding ideas and inspiration. I seriously love ranch weddings.

Also it's been great to be in California to keep my mind from obsessing over that job interview! I have a second on Tuesday. And while I won't let it bum me out just yet, I just found out that I have at least one contender for the position, which means I just need to knock it out of the park on Tuesday. EEEEK!

Happy 4th of July!

I know, it's technically the 5th, but I hope that everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! We spent the weekend hanging out with friends and eating way too much.

I saw this beautiful berry-filled cake and couldn't help but share it. It's patriotic and DELICIOUS!

Blogging will be back to regularly scheduled programming with another great themed week of inspiration. I'm slammed with projects this week (go figure after a long weekend!), so I'll be featuring beautiful "odds and ends" for your wedding day.

Cheers!

Lemon Yellow Wedding Ideas: Centerpieces & Cakes

There are so many fresh and inviting ways to use the color yellow in your wedding. I'm especially loving the lemon yellow color. Each uses the same color, but each has a distinct look. I thought I'd share some lemon yellow wedding centerpieces and wedding cake ideas today.

Love, love, love the use of lemons! So simple, and yet so lovely.

And cakes! I know that the thought of a yellow cake can seem a little crazy, since most wedding cakes tend to be white, but why not think outside the box? I absolutely love how all of these cakes incorporated the color yellow, whether it be as the base fondant or as an accent color with a flower. Yellow can look soooo pretty!

Succulent Inspired Wedding Cakes

I think wedding cakes inspired by succulents is a relatively new idea. I love these first two cakes by Erica O'Brien! She is so talented!

This next cake was for the wedding of Carissa, owner of JL Designs.

This final photo is actually not of cake, but when I first saw the photo, I thought that it was cupcakes with succulents on top. How cool would that idea be if you opted for cupcakes instead of a full cake?

Cinco de Mayo Wedding: The Details

So it's May 4th. Someone told me it's Star Wars Day. "May the fourth be with you." Hardy-har-har. Actually, it took me a quick second to get it. It's still early.

I have to say that besides the ceremony, perhaps my favorite part of a wedding is the details. I love seeing all the things that the bride (or designer) have put together. There are soooo many creative people out there and it's absolutely fabulous to see an inspiration board come to life through the details.

When I was planning my wedding, I think super elaborate wedding details were still on the verge of gaining momentum, so there were not as many resources. And I probably wasn't aware of all the wedding blogs out there. Gosh, that makes me sound old... "Back in my day, when I was wedding planning..." psssh. I got married in 2009. Almost two years ago. But I digress. Details nowadays? They kick some major butt!

I loved these details captured by Caroline Tran:

Love the Papel Picado with the couple's names!
Some Mexican sweets complete the theme.

Details from this Rancho Las Lomas wedding in California are gorgeous, coordinated by Joyful Weddings and Events, designed by the fabulous Carissa of JL Designs and cakes by Melody of the Sweet and Saucy Shop, photography by Tara Leigh.

And another gorgeous Mexican inspired wedding shot by Amelia Lyon, designed by Jesi Haack, and sweets by Sweet and Saucy Shop. Love the papel picado as a backdrop for the desserts table.

And pinatas as escort cards?! Love it!

Finally, one of my favorite weddings by Love Ala shot in Mexico! These birdcages hanging from the trees?!

And how adorable is that cake?

The ceremony location is just stunning. I love those large flower pomanders. The perfect touch to the old hacienda setting.

What are your favorite things about weddings?

Tomorrow, I'll be diving into some Cinco de Mayo inspired paper pretties!

Happy Wednesday!
