Mixed not Matched Bridesmaids Dresses

For our wedding, I totally had the idea that I'd pick a dress color and have my bridesmaids choose their own style of dress. Sadly, in spite of my best efforts to give them a choice, they deferred to me. And my idea of bridesmaids with mixed dresses evaporated. It's okay because they still looked fabulous.

I came across this photo on Green Wedding Shoes, and it's the perfect picture of what I had once envisioned.

What do you you think about mixed not matched bridesmaids dresses?

Engagement Session: Casual Day

When it comes to style, I'm definitely more casual than anything. The perfect outfit for me includes yoga pants, flip flops, and a comfortable tank. And if I have to go out with my husband, I'll slip into some jeans and a casual top. I'm not really a fashionista, though I'd admire the women who are. Every now and again, I require a short schooling in fashion designers.

But I do watch Project Runway.

This is a great outfit that would work for an engagement session, especially if you're the casual type like me.

Today and tomorrow will be "rest days" of sorts, since my Sunday and Monday will be packed. Sunday, I'm helping style a session (one of the projects I've been working on!). Monday, I head down to Austin for the day. And crazy me decided it would be a good idea to do a turnaround trip!

Engagement Session: Casual Rustic

Personally, I'm not the type to dress up all fancy. I'm definitely more casual. I love this simple look of pairing a bit of a dressy top with skinny jeans and boots.

Engagement Session: Evening Glam

I think Polyvore has become one of my new favorite sites on the web. It's been super fun to think up outfit ideas, and I thought it would be perfect for planning an engagement session outfit. Sometimes it's hard to think of what to wear. And the possibilities are almost endless.

Playing around in Polyvore brought me back to the days when I played with paper dolls as a kid. I used to try on all the different fashions. So fun!

I thought I'd start off with a look that perfect for the fashionista, who loves a little bling and ruffles.

Bohemian Chic Wedding Inspiration: Dresses

So I applied for this job and I have an interview on Thursday! Part of me is so nervous because this is the first "real" interview that I've been able to get since my last position. I used to work in the publishing industry, and before you start thinking it might have been something glamourous like The Devil Wears Prada, I used to work in the textbook publishing industry. Totally different. And while the job paid my bills, I just wasn't passionate about it. When I relocated to Texas and was told I couldn't keep my job, well, I wasn't heartbroken or anything.

However, I think that working there kind of put my skills in a box. With their very industry specific job titles, finding another job out here has been less than easy! I'm pretty sure that when my resume is skimmed by the HR person, I get passed over because they just read job titles. At least that's what I think. So I'm super excited about the opportunity, but I also don't want to mess it up. I haven't been on an interview (that I really wanted) in almost five years. 5 YEARS. So if you have any advice for interviewing success, please share!

When I think Bohemian, I think independent and unique. Unlike the "norm". So when searching for some dress ideas, I came upon these beauties. Flowing and simple.

I couldn't help but share this photo when I spotted it. It's the gorgeous Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, in a beautiful flowing dress. Wouldn't this make the perfect bohemian chic wedding dress? Simple, yet oh so fabulous!

Nautical Wedding Inspiration: Bridesmaids & Flower Girl

So I know sometimes it's easy to get carried away when you have a wedding theme. But I believe that there are ways that you can incorporate your theme, and in this case a nautical wedding, into all aspects of your wedding, without going too cheesy.

I'm imagining a simple affair that takes place at the marina or on a yacht in the summer, so I would dress the bridesmaids in something cool and short. I think the dresses below are perfect for a simple, maybe more casual wedding. Who says you have to spend hundreds of dollars for a pretty bridesmaid's dress!

I also found this super adorable nautical dress for a little girl. Wouldn't it be perfect for a Flower Girl's dress!? It's so super cute that it could be worn again and again.

Travel Inspired Wedding Ideas: Attire

Speaking of traveling...Has anyone else seen the show My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding? If you haven't it's worth a look. Or a gawk. It pretty much blew my mind and captured my attention for a few episodes. Not really sure if it was in a good or bad way...

But onto today's post! Attire. My thoughts were focused on a couple taking off after their ceremony or reception and jet-setting. So while I love me the Amsale wedding dresses I've posted, I think that the bride would change into a shorter dress for ease of traveling. As I was perusing photos, I found a lot of the dresses I was drawn to were also City Hall weddings. Just like Carrie and Big in Sex and the City. I just loved her City Hall dress. I mean, I totally adored the Vivienne Westwood dress, too, but the short dress at City Hall was much more them.

And I totally believe in finding a wedding dress that is YOU. And attire that reflects HIM.

School Themed Wedding Ideas: Attire

I love a short wedding dress. Especially for summer weddings and outdoor weddings. They just make sense. And with a school themed wedding, wouldn't a short dress just look fabulous? I imagine that short dresses would be better suited for this casual feeling wedding. Plus, if it's 100+ degrees out, a short dress provides a nice breeze on the legs!

And maybe it's Mr. Schuster on Glee that makes me think of a vest on a teacher. Or maybe it's a teacher thing? I don't know. But I do think that a vest on the groom would be amazing for a school themed wedding. Just check out some of the looks below!

And let's not forget the groom style. I love a good grey suit for the groom. It's more casual than a tuxedo, yet still very classy.

Summer Picnic Wedding Inspiration: Dresses

With the weather quickly creeping into the 100s, what a better way to cool off than with some wedding dresses fit for a summer picnic wedding. I love the look of lightweight flowing dresses as well as short wedding dresses. Goodness knows that some dresses can be heavy and very hot! Add a petticoat and it can be unbearable in the summer heat.

A few favorites...

There are so many cute and sassy short wedding dresses. These were some of my favorites that stood out.
